It’s been a while since we’ve been able to travel, but traipsing across Queens has a tendency to make you feel like you’ve gone across the world, with nothing but your Metrocard. Forget cramming onto a plane with hundreds of other people — explore the city you’re in.

In this three part series, we’ll tell you where to eat, visit, and relax.

Bhanchha Ghar: Everywhere you turn in Jackson Heights, there are more Himalayan delicacies to try. But the star of these is Bhanchha Ghar, which won the 2018 New York Times dumpling crawl. For many, Bhanchha Ghar is their first time trying a sel roti (Nepalese doughnut) but it definitely is not their last. Don’t forget their jhol momos, either.

Gottscheer Hall: Since 1924, Gottscheer Hall’s old world charm has enchanted generations with its delicious food and congenial clientele. To get the best of this small town pub housed in a large beer hall, try their Three Cheese Baked Spaetzle and cool down with any beer you like.

Don Pollo: Sixto and Luisa, the owners of Don Pollo, started their restaurant adventures together in Lima, Peru before immigrating to the United States. After ten years working in a variety of jobs here, they decided to return to their dream and opened Don Pollo, which has become a local favorite. Keep it tropical with their ceviche.

Lemon Ice King: While the Lemon Ice King is a local spot that families hit up after every Mets game, Zagat has also named them as their top spot to get an Italian ice in NYC. Traditional flavors like lemon, cherry, or chocolate are available, but if you’re craving ice cream without the cream, try their peanut butter, cotton candy, and bubble gum flavors.
